Though the Oak Tree has seen a couple of major refurbishments in its lifetime, the first in the early 1970s and another in the early noughties, the pub hasn’t lost any of its traditional charm. Many attractive features remain in place, including large light-giving bay windows and a wooden-panelled bar, the star feature of the open-plan interior. There is also a variety of seating, from comfortable banquettes to regular wooden table and chairs. But while the décor at the Oak Tree is strictly traditional, the facilities are far from old-fashioned. The pub has, much to the joy of sport-obsessed locals, no less than seven big TV screens upon which to watch matches and there is also a pool table located to the left of the bar. An outdoor seating area to the front of the Oak Tree allows guests to drink while simultaneously getting their fix of vitamin D.
Celebrate in a Characterful, Curved-Roof Cellar
Enter the Oak Tree through a separate door to the right of the main entrance and you’ll soon find yourself in the pub’s atmospheric cellar space, which can be rented out for private functions. Entirely cut off from the main bar, the cellar comes with a host of eye-catching features including a striking curved stone ceiling, old wooden beams and an unusual stone-top bar lined with farmhouse kitchen-style units.
The Oak Tree’s cellar can hold up to 60 people and can be adapted to suit a variety of private events. For business meetings, there is a TV screen that can be hooked up to laptops for presentations, while the dance floor is ideal for weddings, family or work parties, and event organisers can even use their iPhone to stream music into the venue. The TV screen can also show BT and Sky Sports matches should you want to get together with fellow fans to cheer on your favourite team.
A Cosy Local in a Prime Mansfield Location
Set on the outskirts of Mansfield where car showrooms and other business properties give way to more residential streets, the Oak Tree attracts a mix of workers and local residents. The historic market town of Mansfield, which was once used by royalty as a base for hunting expeditions into nearby Sherwood Forest and later as a retreat, is now a lovely spot for shopping and wandering, and is less than 10 minutes’ drive away. After exploring the pedestrianised town centre, join the locals for a pint in this cheerful and welcoming traditional pub.
