Celebrate at a Lovely Pub in South Kensington

The Hoop and Toy is a spacious, welcoming pub located in the heart of Kensington. As the oldest established pub in the Knightsbridge area it has a long and prestigious history, dating back almost 500 years. According to historical documents, a building has stood here from the start of the sixteenth century and has been licensed as an inn from 1760 when it was known as The Hoops and Grapes. Since then the pub has played host to both kings and movie stars – King George III and King George IV drank here as guests of Lord Rothschild and The Hoop featured in Roman Polanski’s film ‘Repulsion’ starring Catherine Deneuve.

With its attractive timbered exterior and the words ‘whiskies’ and ‘brandies’ crafted into its ornate entrance, The Hoop & Toy is one of the most distinctive and inviting pubs in West London. Inside, the pub is charming, friendly and comfortable – a relaxing haven in a bustling part of the city. The white domed façade of the Victoria & Albert Museum can be seen from the doorstep of The Hoop, and the pub itself is surrounded by some of London’s most spectacular Regency architecture. With the iconic Natural History Museum, Thurloe Square and Stanhope Gardens all within a few hundred metres, we occupy one of the finest locations in London.
