The pub sits on the remains of a city mansion that was built here in the mid-17th century, when it was owned by the First Earl of Clarendon. The house was demolished not long after, however, to make way for the city development that took over the area. The Goat Tavern was built in the 1680s during this property boom, established as one of only three cider houses in the city. After subsequent redevelopments in the 19th and 20th centuries, the venue became the Goat Tavern as it stands today.
You can find us in the part of London where work meets play, as big business sits alongside boutique shops in fashionable Mayfair. High end hotels and the expensive stores on Old Bond Street make the area exude class, but everyone is welcome in the Goat Tavern. People working in nearby offices, tourists to the area and Londoners seeking out a cosy spot to meet all come to our bar to enjoy one of our classic ales in a lively atmosphere.
Join us for a big game in our spacious pub, which is spread over two recently refurbished floors. Two large screens on both levels show the latest sport, with BT and Sky screening everything in tennis, football, rugby and cricket and more. Our friendly team are also geared up for working lunches and pre-event dinners, for those heading to enjoy a glamorous evening at the Royal Academy of Arts.
Bring Friends to Our Multi-Purpose Function Room
Walk upstairs in the Goat Tavern and you will find a spacious function room ideal for any number of events. We can seat up to 50 people for an evening of formal dining, ready to serve guests with our pre-theatre menu. Alternatively, the room can be set up with a buffet-style dinner for a larger group with standing room. Whichever you choose, a charming ambience is guaranteed.
The room also has its own bar and television screens, so we often welcome groups of people joining us after work. Choose the Goat Tavern for your birthday party or make the pub a stop on your walking tour of the surrounding area. Whatever the occasion we look forward to welcoming your function to the Goat Tavern.
Enjoy a Friendly Establishment in the Heart of London
Whether you are working and living in London or simply exploring it, seek out the warmth and cheeriness of the Goat Tavern. Our off-street location in one of the city’s most famous shopping regions makes the pub feel like a secret discovery, a sensation that is cemented by the charm of its atmosphere.
